Today marked the grand opening of the 14,000 square foot Jeron X. Grayson Community Center on Enoch Street in the Hill District.

The center aims to give children and young adults in the Hill District a place to learn and play in a safe environment.

Community donors raised more than $2 million for the center, which is in the refurbished Ozanam Cultural Center.

Jeron Grayson, 18, a student at Hampton University in Virginia, was shot and killed at a party in an off-campus apartment at California University of Pennsylvania four years ago today. His father, the Rev. Glenn Grayson, worked with the community to open the center to honor his memory.
