Terri Leasure submitted the project on behalf of Duquesne University to the Development Review Panel.
Duquesne proposes, as a part of their 2022 Ten-Year Institutional Masterplan, the demolition of Mendel Hall (701 Forbes Avenue) to create a parklet/plaza with gateway signage for the campus. A complete presentation on the project is available for download on this page.
February 2025
The DRP Committee reviewed the project internally and forwarded initial questions in advance of the project’s formal presentation to the committee in March.
March 2025
The development team presented to the DRP Committee and received a score of 82% – B. This means the project has sufficient alignment with the Greater Hill District Master Plan to advance for the entire community’s consideration at the next Community Meeting.
May 2025
Duquesne presented the project to the Hill District Community meeting on May 8th 2025. The community residents and online voters scored the project an 80% B. The cumulative score for the project was 81% meaning that there was sufficient alignment with the Greater Hill District Master Plan. A letter of support was sent to Duquesne by Hill CDC on behalf of the DRP later that month.
