-"New Art, New Day, New Time"
Emerging collage artist Kaceem Omari Barnett will hold his first exhibit "New Art, New Day, New Time" in the re furbished Hill District Community Development Corporation Community Development Business Center. The exhibit, curated by Barnett's mentor artist and storyteller Amir Rashidd, will run from March 1 - March 22, 2013.
His most recent work was created at his gallery on Wylie Avenue in the Hill District. Barnett curated a teen art exhibit for his senior project at Schenley High School in 2011. For two years he was active in the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild Youth Art Apprenticeship Training Program. He studied clay bead making and multimedia art making with Temujin Ekunfeo and Amir Rashid respectively and considers himself an art activist. "My teachers and mentors outside the traditional classroom have made my journey as a young artist and future independent curator a real and active one.
